Luigi 1884 - Rethinking social finance

How can innovations in social finance be successful? And how can companies simultaneously gain new competitive advantages in large target groups and thereby suddenly achieve new sales successes and high image values? It’s easy – by combining these two intentions! Learn more under the „Kick-Off“ button.

Goal: Curbing migration & conveying values

Luigi 1884 Fonds e.V. aims to implement concrete and sustainable education and sports aid projects in migrant countries of origin with the help of the worldwide “motivating power of football” and an innovation in social financing. This creates a basis for adolescents to build up their own livelihoods in their home country. Credo: Curb migration sustainably “at its root”.

The raising of the financial resources “for this aid on the ground” is done by granting trademark licences in the form of a word and figurative mark or a word mark to selected licence partners in various industries. At the core of the brand stands the official patron saint of all footballers, football fans and stadium visitors: Luigi 1884.  More …

As well as the much-needed innovation in social financing, it is just as important to the Luigi 1884 Fonds eV Board of Directors to convey the values associated with this new brand to young people. What do we mean by that? Quite simply, the patron saint of all footballers, Luigi 1884, was an exemplary role model for young people, endowed with exactly those values that sport also embodies:

Fairness, cohesion, mutual support, helpfulness, diligence, trust,  and above all, “respectful interaction with each other!”

Characteristics that are also exemplified by football in many countries today. Football turns lone fighters into a team and brings young and old, poor and rich together in “peaceful competition”. Barriers are broken down and cohesion created, in the team and in the global “fan communities” of football clubs. The message of Luigi 1884 Fonds eV is that the new Luigi 1884 brand should remind all social classes of these values.

Background

Our world is changing right now…

The background behind this private initiative is an increasingly precarious Europe. Advancing poverty, social conflicts, emerging violence. Above all, the massively increased flows of refugees, with numerous unaccompanied children, are also leading to rising tensions within Europe. In the case of the young people entering Europe, the lack of prospects and orientation in their homeland is their number one motive for migration. Solutions are therefore being sought urgently.

This is exactly why this innovation in social financing has now been created. Innovative mechanisms provide the necessary financing on a broadest possible basis and, at the same time, open up new business opportunities for companies in numerous sectors. This makes it possible to invest immediately in education and sport for children and adolescents “on the ground“, e.g., in Africa. According to  more and more leading figures from politics, business and the social sector, this is the most sustainable form of aid because it starts at the root of migration.

One focus: Africa

Forecasts show that ever-increasing waves of migration from Africa are rolling towards Europe. The United Nations (UN) already reported years ago that, according to its expertise, “400 million Africans” would leave for Europe. Not only this enormous dimension of the issue, but, first and foremost, the permanent capsizing of boats containing migrants during Mediterranean crossings to Italy, Spain or Greece require “action” for humanitarian reasons!

Due to the increasingly dramatic situation, with steadily growing flows of refugees with unaccompanied and minor children, and, at the same time, rapidly increasing youth unemployment in Europe, educational aid projects, incl. sport for children are implemented “on the ground” in Africa,  in their home country, or in their neighbouring countries. The most sustainable way to help young people is through education. For one thing, this allows them to build up their own life “in their home country”, and, for another, it can also help prevent them, already at that point, from sliding into the milieus of criminality and drugs.

Today, more and more political voices in European countries, as well as in the management floors of the European Commission,  are unanimously stating: “Aid must be provided on the ground!”

Why football?
Football inspires, unites and connects! The high emotional power of football is harnessed in this new European initiative to support disadvantaged children and adolescents
through education and sport.

This allows them to build a future for themselves in their home country, with their families and with their friends. Big goals can only be achieved with new, big and innovative measures: football’s global football includes 4 billion football fans. The “greatest team in the world” therefore has the power to bring about positive changes with tangible results – just like in the fame of football.

New brand creates a future!

At the heart of this innovation in social financing is a new international brand with a high level of emotional involvement. For this purpose, the official worldwide “Patron Saint of all footballers, football fans and stadium visitors” was brought into being by its initiators: “Luigi 1884” – The Original. Found in Europe, made for the whole world!

Selected exclusive licensees in many industries and companies around the world thus receive a   “global competitive advantage” and feature a positive theme among one of the largest target groups in the world: footballers, football fans and stadium visitors. In total:  4 billion people.

This licensed trademark, as a word and figurative brand or a simple word brand, ensures a rapid buildup of customer numbers and revenues for your new or existing products throughout your entire network of online and international brick-and-mortar stores. Eye-catching “top displays”, with digital and analogue versions included.

Football accounts for 60% of the world’s sports coverage in print, TV and online, giving you a  “permanent presence for your products”.

In addition, you and your company benefit from social responsibility, which is increasingly valued and also rewarded by rating agencies.

This innovation in social financing creates a future: for disadvantaged young people in migrant countries of origin. And for new business successes for numerous companies!

4 billion people are waiting for new products – new business opportunities suddenly open up for many industries!

Through being awarded licenses, collaborative partners from numerous industries (jewelry, sports, textiles, beverages, cars, mobile telephony, etc.) suddenly receive new business opportunities, new product themes and new product ideas. And they get these in a huge market. They are awaited by what is probably the largest target group in the world, with “4 billion football fans”! Take advantage of these new opportunities!

The ESG effect

Increase your reputation and image “on the outside world”! Benefit from better company ratings through rating agencies. Secure your economic success for the next generation, too.

The ESG criteria established by the United Nations include considering the areas of the environment, social affairs and responsible corporate governance.

These are now also assessed by rating agencies as value-enhancing. This is why both private and institutional investors are growingly investing in companies that are verifiably and “visibly” compliant with ESG aspects, now and in the future.

For more and more companies, the increased awareness of them assuming social responsibility (ESG contribution) “on the outside world” is becoming an increasingly important distinguishing feature (competitive advantage). The solution: Displaying your “Luigi 1884 emblem”. Your ESG competence will now become visible!

Lean organisation. – Focused approach – Good deeds

Luigi 1884 Fonds e.V. spares building its own aid organisations in the migrant country of origin. This is because the financial resources obtained from the licensing to selected licence partners are transferred by Luigi Fonds 1884 e.V. to selected international non-governmental organisations (NGO) and non-profit organisations (NPO), such as the  globally active aid organisation Suore della Provvidenza (founder: Luigi 1884). These funds are used to support local aid projects in the field of education and sport that, in future, will lead to an improvement in life prospects for children and adolescents.

The link with “new social financing” and the simultaneous provision of new commercial successes for collaborative partners through the granting of licenses for new products and by bearing the emblem in the eyes of the outside world lift this innovation in the social financing sector into a new category of the future.

Official reception at the Government Palace in Udine

This social-financing innovation has already been successfully implemented in practice in a cross-border school project (Austria/Italy). A considerable amount of money has already been raised here, which, in turn, was immediately able to provide financial support for an educational project “on the ground” in Africa.

The conclusion of this initiative by exemplary girls and boys involved then took place in an official reception in the government palace of Udine (I).

During this, the mayor of Udine, Furio Honsell, in the presence of Udinese Calcio director, Alberto Rigotto, was presented with an original figure of Luigi 1884, the official Patron Saint of all footballers, by the three board members of Luigi 1884 Fonds e.V.

Africa Amini Alama

Luigi 1884 Fonds e.V. has spared the task of having to install its own aid organisations in migrant countries of origin. As a result, funds that are made available can be used even more effectively and immediately, directly “on the ground”, by audited aid organisations.

The organisation Africa Amini Alama in Tanzania, for example, offers young people and children “education, sports and medical care” “on the ground”. Dr Christine Wallner and Mag. Dr Cornelia Wallner-Frisee thereby provide children and young people with exemplary and far-sighted prospects in order to be able to build their own, viable existence in Africa.
