Pesek, San Luigi Scrosoppi (1804\u20131884) was appointed the worldwide patron saint of all footballers, football fans and stadium visitors by the Austrian sports bishop Dr Alois Schwarz and the authorities of the Vatican.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>According to a worldwide selection process, the cinching factor for this was that Luigi committed himself in an exemplary and sacrificial way for disadvantaged poor children and adolescents. He took them off the streets, freed them from their fears and worries, and learned with them. Particularly progressive was his idea to teach poor children skills through early support, which help the individual to build an &#8220;independent&#8221; life. The worldwide patron saint of all footballers, football fans and stadium visitors comes from the northern Italian city of Udine.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>He is a role model for youth and the values that sport imparts; like fairness, solidarity, mutual support, hard work perseverance and respect. Functions that the sport of football takes over in many countries today. These football rules are the same &#8220;all over the world&#8221;. Football turns lone fighters into a team and brings young and old, poor and rich together in &#8220;peaceful competition&#8221;.
